Scholatic Aptitude Test (Part 1)

What is SAT ?
The SAT is a globally recognized college admission test; a standardized test for most college admissions in the United States and colleges in a few other countries as well. It is owned, published, and developed by the College Board, a nonprofit organization in the United States. It is a written paper-pencil test and helps evaluate the language and mathematical reasoning skills of the applicants.
Till a few years ago it was used mostly for students going abroad but lately that has changed and several colleges in India now accept SAT scores.

What are the changes that have been made to the SAT pattern and scoring?
In 2016, many changes were made to the SAT  format. Though the basic eligibility and maxim of the exam remain the same, a lot of the other things, including the subject names, examination duration and valuation pattern has been changed in the new SAT.
Where the old SAT exam contained sections of critical reading, writing and Mathematics, the new SAT exam contains sections of evidence-based reading & writing and Mathematics (more about this in Part 2). There is also an essay section in the examination, but it is optional for the applicants. We would suggest you appear for the essay section of the examination too, as that can help you improve your SAT scores.
The time duration of the exam has also been changed in the new SAT from 3 hours 45 minutes to 3 hours for the applicants not appearing for the essay section and 3 hours 50 minutes for the applicants appearing for the essay section. Besides this, the new SAT valuation system has also been changed. Scores range from 400-1600, in place of the old 600-2400 scale. Also another very important thing is that there is no negative marking in this new format.

What is the eligibility criteria taking the SAT?
Even though there are no set SAT exam eligibility or age criteria for appearing for the SAT text, students who are in grades 11th or 12th do generallt appear for it.  Some students also take it in the 10th holidays ie. when they have completed 10th and before getting into 11th.  So, generally, students within the age group of 16-18 years take this test.

What is the Fees you pay to take the SAT exam?
The fees for an applicant appearing for SAT exam along with Essays is $117 and for a student appearing without the essay it is $101.
